The Cottage

This 150-year-old traditional Saban cottage has just been fully renovated. It is perfectly located in the center of Windwardside, about a two-minute walk to shops, restaurants, dive shops, post office and banks. From the front porch you can sit and gaze at the ocean, as well as enjoying an overview of the village. From the back patio there is a great view of the summit of Mt. Scenery at 2,800ft, which is one of the highest points in the Caribbean as well as the Netherlands.

Althea Cottage is named, according to Saban tradition, after the last female native to live in the house. It has two bedrooms each with a queen bed and ensuite bathroom. There is a large living room with a sofa that makes into a trundle bed that becomes two twin beds. The owners, Janly Jaggard and Beth Trainum both love to cook, so the kitchen is well equipped and has a dining table, although most dining is done outdoors on the patio where a pleasant light breeze usually blows and the outdoor grill can be used. The new deck is the perfect place to relax on the chaise lounge chairs with drinks and a good book.

RENTAL RATES FOR ALTHEA COTTAGE, WINDWARDSIDE, SABA

The Rental Plan allows for vacationers to book the one bedroom/one bathroom package OR the two bedroom/two bathroom package. The trundle bed in the living room will sleep two. Rental of the whole house sleeps a maximum of 6.

As of January 2010 The Saba Nature Foundation requires rental homeowners to collect $1.00 per day from each guest. This fee is passed directly to the SNF by the homeowner to cover trail maintenance fees.

A deposit of 25% will secure your dates. Full payment is required no later than 30 days prior to arrival.
Payments can be made using Paypal. After your dates are secured we will invoice you via Paypal which is a secure site. You do not need a Paypal account for this service.

Cancellation policy:
45 days prior to arrival = full refund
30-45 days prior = 75% refund
15-30 days prior = 50% refund
Reservations for Christmas week are non refundable

When to go:

Saba enjoys good weather year round. The high season is from November to April. Saba does lie in the hurricane belt and that season is from late June to mid November.

Numerous airlines provide service to Princess Juliana Airport (SXM) on St. Maarten. From there, take the 12 minute flight with Winair to Saba.

Alternatively, you can also take one of the ferries, The Edge or Dawn II. You can find info about the ferries at Sabactransport.com and Sabatourism.com

Diving and Snorkeling:

Saba is surrounded by stunning government-protected underwater park systems. People come from all over the world to dive here. There are three dive shops that can provide you with equipment and give you diving lessons.

Rock Climbing & Hiking:

A stunning view awaits you at every turn. Most of Saba is rather steep, and hiking trails are very well marked. Hike trails through unspoiled vegetation to the summit of Mt. Scenery or discover Saba's rain forest, tidepools, and historic ruins.
Flora & Fauna:

A nature wonderland, Saba's lush greenery and mountain landscape is home to many beautiful tropical plants and animals. Whether it be from the porch of a cottage, during a hike, or on a deep rain forest adventure, if you look, you will find a surprise around every corner. Bring your camera.
